Trump health update: ‘Swollen ankles’ and ‘difficulty walking’ in new video raise concerns; ‘Watch the size’

President Donald Trump’s health has once again become a topic of public discussion after a video circulated online showing him appearing to be limping while walking down the stairs of Air Force One in Miami, Florida. The 79-year-old president arrived in Miami for UFC 327 on Saturday. Video of him walking down the stairs of a plane prompted numerous social media users to comment on his gait and the apparent swelling around his ankle.

social media reaction

Journalist Aaron Rupar shared the video on X and wrote: “Look how swollen Trump’s ankle is.”

Similar sentiments were expressed by some users, some of whom suggested it could be related to heart, kidney or neurological problems.

One person wrote: “His ankles press up against his shoes like waffles. Additionally, he has trouble walking. Notice how he lands on his right foot, but not his left. His gait is abnormal, which could be an aftereffect of a stroke. This is caused by a breakdown in communication between the brain and body.”

Another added, “Look at the size of his ankle. That’s end stage heart or kidney failure“.

A third user commented: “He’s in stage 2 or 3 congestion heart failure This is very, very obvious. “

Another X user wrote: “The right ankle seems a lot stiffer and swollen to the size of a baby elephant.”

Another added: “This is a serious heart attack.”

However, these are just social media theories. The White House has not released a new statement on the latest video.

Previous official medical updates

This isn’t the first time questions about Trump’s health have arisen. In July 2025, the White House released medical records from doctor Sean Barbabella that addressed the apparent swelling of the president’s ankles.

According to the note, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) — a common and generally benign condition in which the veins in the legs have trouble returning blood to the heart. It is especially common in people over 70 years old.

Doctors described the condition as “benign and common” and highlighted additional test findings:

  1. No signs of heart failure
  2. No renal impairment
  3. No evidence of systemic disease

Doctors concluded that Trump was in generally “good health.”
