President of the United States Donald Trump The United States is said to have secretly shipped weapons to Iranian protesters via the Kurds earlier this year, but the Iranian community may have been keeping the weapons rather than passing them on.“We gave guns to the protesters, a lot of them. Trump also said in the interview that he believed there was a “very good chance” of reaching a deal with Iran on Monday. “I think there’s a good chance tomorrow and they’re negotiating now,” he said. However, he also warned, “If they don’t make a deal soon, I’m considering blowing everything up and taking over the oil.”In addition to his remarks, Trump said that current Iranian negotiators have been granted “limited amnesty” as negotiations continue. Iran has yet to make any official statements regarding these negotiations. On Saturday, Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or he would blow up Iran’s power plants and other infrastructure. Late Sunday, Trump published an expletive-laden rant in The Truth Society, saying “Tuesday will be Iran’s Power Plant Day and Bridge Day, and it will all happen in Iran. It won’t get any better than this!!! Open the damn straits, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in hell – watch it! Praise be to Allah.”Trump has set similar deadlines in the past but extended them while claiming he or mediators had made progress toward ending the conflict. Both sides have also attacked and threatened civilian infrastructure, including oil fields and desalination plants critical for drinking water, raising concerns about the long-term consequences of an escalating conflict.
