Trump claims California election was rigged, says ‘Jesus Christ’ will let him win

President of the United States Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that he would win California if “Jesus Christ came down and counted the votes,” while again claiming the state’s election was rigged.

Rupp made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews before heading to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to deliver the commencement address. In the exchange, he criticized California’s voting system and mail-in ballots, reiterating long-standing claims about election integrity.

“The votes there were rigged, that’s the problem. The votes were rigged. The votes in California were rigged,” Trump said. “You have all the mail-in ballots, and everything else. It’s hard to win because the election is so dishonest.”

Trump then escalated the claim by invoking religion, saying: “If we had Jesus Christ come down and count the votes, I would win California because I’ve done a good job with Hispanics.”

The president also suggested he might compile a list ranking what he called “dishonest states,” adding that California was “one of the most dishonest states.”

Social media backlash over Jesus’ comments

Trump’s comments drew criticism online, particularly his reference to Jesus when discussing the election results. “He’s coming down, but I don’t think he’s coming to count the votes.” One social media user wrote.

Another said: “If Jesus Christ came down today and listened to what you say and do in His name, He would never stop vomiting.”

third user wrote”, “Jesus was too busy doing doctor’s work in the emergency room to count these votes. “

Trump increasingly invokes religion

Trump’s comments come amid a series of recent incidents in which Trump has publicly invoked religious imagery and made references to Jesus. Tensions between Trump and the Catholic Church have also increased in recent months.

Last month, Trump shared, and later deleted, an AI-generated image depicting himself in a robe and appearing to heal a person with divine power. Asked about the photo, Trump said “this is supposed to be about me as a doctor making people better.”

On Wednesday, he reportedly shared another AI-generated image showing Jesus hugging him, with the caption: “Radical left-wing lunatics may not like this but I think it’s great!!!”

Trump has also repeatedly criticized Pope Leo’s comments on the Iran war. In his Palm Sunday address, the pope said God “rejects” the prayers of those who wage war and criticized leaders who invoke faith to justify conflict.

Trump later called Pope Leo “very liberal” and accused him of being “soft on crime” while urging him to “stop pandering to the radical left.”
