‘Tough decision’: Sam Curran reveals injury forced to withdraw from IPL 2026

That was a big stumbling block for me,” he added.The 27-year-old said missing out on the IPL was particularly frustrating given his excitement about joining a new team. “It’s very disappointing to miss the IPL… but now I have a recovery hurdle, which is trying to get strong and fit,” he pointed out.Focus turns to recoveryCurran is currently undergoing rehabilitation in England and admitted his timetable for return remains uncertain. “It’s all going to come down to symptoms. Obviously we’re a long way from that,” he said, casting doubt on his participation in the upcoming domestic mission.He is also unlikely to make an immediate appearance for Surrey and remains uncertain about being able to lead the team in the T20 Blast. “This is probably the first time I’ve been back in England for rehab,” he said.Despite the setback, Curran remains pragmatic. “Watching the IPL will be tough because I know I would love to be there, but injuries are part of the sport,” he added.The state of Rajasthan was henceforth named darsang shanaka as his backup this season.Curran’s exit adds to a growing list of high-profile absences this year, underlining the toll a congested cricket schedule takes on the body.
