New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Marwa Moitra moved on thursday delhi high court Seeking custody of her pet Rottweiler, Henry. The petition challenges a Saket court order dated November 10 last year, which rejected her request for custody of the dog for 10 days a month. Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri issued notice to Moitra’s former partner and lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai for his response to the plea. The case has been listed for hearing on April 29.Moitra argued that the lower court order was “wrong both in law and fact”. In her plea, she said Henry mainly lived with her unless she traveled outside Derry on official duties for the constituency. During this time, the dog stayed with Dehale.Lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai personally appeared before the high court and argued that the petition should be dismissed from the outset (within a limited time), news agency ANI reported. A custody dispute over the Rottweiler has been pending in a Saket court. In September last year, the Delhi High Court had issued notice to Moitra on Dhale’s appeal against the trial court order, which directed him not to make the matter public. Justice Manoj Jain then asked Moitra to file a response while senior advocate Sanjoy Ghosh appeared for Dhale. According to the plea, Moitra had earlier filed custody proceedings over the pet dog Henry, which Dehale purchased in 2021.The case will be heard on April 29.

What is the case about?

The legal dispute between Mahua Moitra and defense attorney Jai Anant Dehadrai began as a personal conflict and later escalated into multiple public and legal confrontations.Moitra and Dehale are reportedly in a relationship and share a Rottweiler named Henry. However, Henry’s custody became a central point of contention after their relationship became strained and Dehale publicly accused Moitra in the Cash for Queries controversy. Both men claimed to own the dog and accused the other of illegally taking it.Dehadrai claimed that he bought Henry for Rs 75,000 in 2021 and started taking care of the dog from the time he was 40 days old. Moitra, on the other hand, alleged that Dhale broke into her residence and took Henry away without her consent. When the custody battle reached the Saket court, the trial court directed the parties to “ensure that the current proceedings are not made public in any way.” Dehale challenged this direction, arguing that a “blanket gag order” prevented him from even disclosing the existence of the case in the public domain.
