‘TMC cannot wash away their sins even in next 100 years’: PM Modi mocks Mamata-led govt in Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launched scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister on Thursday Mamata Banerjeeurging voters to eliminate what he called “nirmam” (cruelty) Trinamool Congress The government is out of power.Addressing a rally in Haldia, Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari’s stronghold, Prime Minister Modi accused the ruling dispensation of holding back the country’s development even as the rest of the country was moving forward.“What the TMC government has done to the youth of Bengal, even 100 years from now cannot wash away their sins… TMC has committed a double betrayal of the youth of Bengal. There are no job opportunities in the private sector here, and if there are, they have been given to infiltrators. Government vacancies are being looted by TMC ministers,” he said. The prime minister claimed that jobs and government jobs have been harmed under the current regime and promised action if the BJP comes to power. He said the BJP would reopen cases related to corruption and crimes against women that were allegedly suppressed and ensure strict action against those involved. “Government facilities will be open to all bona fide citizens and infiltrators will not be allowed to remain in the country,” he added.Prime Minister Modi also promised that the BJP government in the state would implement the seventh pay commission for state employees, teachers and allied departments.Regarding the development of TMC, he said that although India is making progress, Bangladesh is being held back by the current government. He stressed that dismantling the TMC was crucial for establishing ‘Viksit Bengal’.He further accused the ruling party of undermining the private sector and public recruitment processes, claiming that jobs were either not created or were allegedly sold in exchange for money.“Investments are not made in an atmosphere of fear but in an atmosphere of trust that the BJP will bring to Bengal,” he said. The prime minister also criticized what he termed “religion-based reservations”, claiming they were aimed at consolidating the vote bank.Prime Minister Modi noted that the rally’s high turnout despite the bad weather reflected the state’s desire for change. Referring to Nandigram where Adhikari defeated Banerjee in the 2021 assembly elections, he expressed confidence that a similar result will be seen in Babanipur this time and the two leaders will face off again.Justifying the case for a “dual-engine” government, Prime Minister Modi said West Bengal will benefit more when the Center and states work in a coordinated manner. He also highlighted the Centre’s focus on the fisheries sector, promising to make the country self-reliant in seafood production, while pointing to the establishment of a dedicated department and increased budgetary support to fishermen.
