At one point, Woods briefly left the squad car, prompting officers to call him back. When he returned, the 50-year-old appeared to be finishing a phone call, saying: “Thank you very much. Okay. You got it. Goodbye.”

When asked to stick around, Woods gave a surprising explanation: “Yeah, I was just talking to the president.”

The interaction occurred before Woods was placed in handcuffs. Officers allowed him to sit in the patrol car and later asked him to perform field sobriety tests as part of the investigation.

After being joined by police and his manager at the scene, Woods added another detail of the conversation, saying Trump was “very sorry for what he did last night.”

The quote appeared to be a reference to Trump’s remarks the day before, when he spoke publicly about Woods’ condition. “I feel bad,” Trump said, standing near Air Force One. “He had some difficulties, had an accident, that’s all I know.” He added, “A very close friend of mine, he’s a great guy, a great guy. But there were some difficulties. I don’t want to talk about it.”

Tiger Woods’ close relationship with Donald Trump

The two have a long-standing relationship, playing golf together for years and regularly exchanging public praise. Woods is also currently dating Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife Vanessa Trump, further tying the two together.

Body camera footage reveals details

Meanwhile, body camera footage shows Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Tatiana Levenar conducting roadside sobriety tests and telling Woods: “I do believe that your normal faculties were impaired and that you were under the influence of an unknown substance, so now you are being arrested for driving under the influence.”

“Am I under arrest?” Woods responded.

“Yes, sir,” Levine said.

After handcuffing Woods, authorities searched his pockets and found two white pills.

“That’s Norco,” Woods said after an officer produced the pills, referring to a painkiller containing acetaminophen and the opioid hydrocodone. Authorities later confirmed Woods was in possession of hydrocodone.

In the body camera footage, Woods told Levenauer that he had not drank any alcohol and that he had taken “some” drugs earlier in the day, although Woods did not speak in the released video when describing some of the drugs.
