‘They fooled people’: Humayun Kabir congratulates West Bengal for defeating TMC

New Delhi: Humayun KabirThe Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AUJP) founder said on Monday that the West Bengal assembly election results reflected public anger against the government. Trinamool Congress. He also accused the chief minister of Mamata Banerjee and her government’s exploitative behavior while in power.Kabir told reporters: “What can I say? What happened is good. It was bound to happen. Mamata Banerjee was the prime minister three times. She gave so much power to her nephew.”The politician further added, “They deceived the people and looted people’s money. In 15 years, they looted more than the British looted in 100-200 years. I would like to congratulate the people of Bengal for giving such a reply to the TMC who looted the country.”Kabir was a former Trinamool Congress leader who was later expelled over the dispute over the construction of the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, according to the Election Commission of India. As counting proceeds, Kabir is leading in both Reji Nagar and Noorda constituencies. In Reijinagar, Trinamool’s Ataur Rahaman slipped to third position after three rounds, while BJP candidate Bapan Ghosh was in second place, 6,325 votes behind. In Nowda, Trinamool’s Sahina Momtaz Khan was also pushed to third position after seven overs, with Kabir leading the way.Confident of winning both seats, Kabir said, “I will win both seats and take home the certificate at 3 pm.”The broader electoral landscape also points to a major political shift in West Bengal, bjp surpassing the majority and ending Mamata Banerjee’s hopes of a fourth consecutive term.Election Commission trends as of 1:15 pm showed the BJP leading in 187 wards, while the Trinamool Congress was leading in 92 wards. As the BJP gained a decisive advantage, supporters of the party gathered outside Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata and chanted “Jai Shree Ram”.This election was marked by unprecedented levels of voter participation. West Bengal recorded its highest turnout since independence, with 93.19% voting rate in the first phase and 91.66% in the second phase, with the overall voting rate reaching 92.47%.The result is a dramatic reversal from the 2021 Assembly polls, when Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress won 213 of the 294 seats with nearly 48 per cent vote share. In that election, the BJP won 77 seats with about 38% of the vote, while the left-wing Congress alliance failed to win any seats.
