‘The Mandalorian’ star Gina Carano reacts to return to MMA after 17 years; “Turn it up…”

Actress and former MMA fighter Gina Carano, who retired in August 2009, is expected to return to the ring Netflix MMA Special Broadcast. She will go over five rounds at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles against another retired MMA legend, Ronda Rousey, who retired from the ring in 2016.

Gina Carano’s high-profile return to mixed martial arts (MMA) has given her first reaction to the fight in May. Carano gushed to fans and said she’s “looking forward to it.”

“Turn it on. 🔊So lucky. Looking forward to walking again!” she wrote on the X, sharing a poster of the fight.

The MMA return will mark the first time the 47-year-old Carano steps into the ring since retiring after losing to Cris Cyborg at Strikeforce in August 2009. Carano left showbiz to pursue a career in acting mixed martial arts.

From 2006 to 2009, she mainly participated in the women’s bantamweight and featherweight competitions, and made her professional debut on June 10, 2006. In her final MMA fight, she finished with a career record of seven wins and one loss.

This fight will be organized by the most influential Most Valuable Promotions organization Jake Paul and his business partner Nakisa Bidarian. The series will be streamed on Netflix on May 16.

Ronda Rousey reacts to upcoming fight

Ronda Rousey also reacted to the upcoming fight on social media, saying she had been “waiting a long time” to announce the news to her fans. She said the fight would be “the biggest superfight in the history of women’s combat sports.”

She wrote: “Been waiting so long to announce this: Gina Carano and I will be victorious in the biggest super fight in women’s combat sports history! We’re partnering with Fighter First Promotions, the most valuable promotion and the worst streamer on the planet, Netflix!

“This is dedicated to all MMA fans past, present and future. There will be much more… much more to come,” she added.

Rousey finished her MMA career with a 12-2 record and won nine fights via armbar submission to become the UFC’s first women’s bantamweight champion. Her only losses were knockouts to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
