Tamil Nadu Assembly polls: Stalin holds door-to-door campaign in Vellore

In the 2021 Assembly elections, Karthikeyan defeated Apu by a margin of 9,181 votes, or 5.1%.The Muslim community is expected to play a key role in this constituency, with the population share of Vellore city at 24.28%, according to the 2011 census.Earlier on Monday, Stalin had said that the DMK will defeat the NDA alliance in the assembly elections and said that “Team Tamil Nadu” will defeat “Team Delhi”.Addressing a public meeting in Ranipet district, he charged bjp The BJP raised the delimitation issue to divert attention from concerns such as shortage of LPG and the depreciation of the Indian rupee against the US dollar.“In the democratic war of 2026, I have come so that we defeat Delhi and make Tamil Nadu win. The BJP is now dealing with the delimitation issue. People are facing trouble of no gas and the Indian rupee has gone higher against the US dollar. So, to divert attention, the BJP is now trying to deal with the delimitation issue. This is the biggest delimitation issue in the history of India. If they hide and try to implement it, then they are definitely against the Tamils,” Stalin said, according to news agency ANI.He also described the party’s election manifesto as “superstar” and announced a welfare package for women voters. Under the proposal, DMK plans to provide Rs 8,000 voucher to women to buy new home appliances or replace existing ones.Tamil Nadu will go to polls in phases on April 23 and counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.The main contest is expected to be between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, which includes indian national congress partyDMDK and VCK, and the NDA led by the AIADMK, as well as the BJP and PMK. Actor-turned-politician Vijay will also contest an election for the first time with his party TVK, potentially turning the contest into a three-way fight.
