A suspicious package was discovered inside Trump Tower on Monday afternoon local time, prompting a response from the NYPD bomb squad and police United States Secret Servicebriefly disrupting traffic in midtown Manhattan.
Authorities later determined the package posed no threat and no evacuations or injuries were reported.
According to police, the Secret Service received a 911 call after finding the package in the mailroom of the building at 725 Fifth Avenue around 4:20 p.m. ET. The New York Police Department confirmed to Newsweek that bomb technicians were dispatched to the area to investigate and ensure safety.
Shortly before 6 p.m., NBC New York reported that the package had been removed.
