New Delhi: Supreme Court A request to restrict the construction of any mosque dedicated to Mughal emperor Babar was dismissed on Friday. The plea said that any mosque in the name of Babur or Babur babri mosque It cannot be built anywhere in India on the pretext that the Mughal ruler Babar was an anti-Hindu invader.A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta dismissed the matter after hearing the petitioner’s brief submissions.During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner mentioned that despite Babar being a brutal anti-Hindu invader, a mosque was being built in the name of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad. This comes after Jan Unnayan party chief and former Trinamool MP Humayun Kabir On December 6, 2025, the foundation stone of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad was laid and said that no one can move a single brick as the 37% Muslim population of Bengal will build it at any cost.He drew attention to the constitutional right to build a place of worship and said he had done nothing unconstitutional. “Just as anyone can build a temple or a church, so can I,” he said.Kabir insists the legal challenge will not stop the mosque’s construction. “Five cases have been filed against me but no one can stop a person who is with Allah. The court also made it clear that the Indian Constitution states that a person can build a mosque; it is a right,” he said.On January 2, Kabir informed about the construction of hospitals and universities as well as Babri Masjid. “A Babri Masjid, a hospital, a university and facilities will be built here for the benefit of the people,” Kabir said at an event in Murshidabad.
