DEHRADUN: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that the nature of conflicts has changed drastically and countries can now be weakened not only through conventional warfare but also through economic, cyber, space and information warfare, reports Kautilya Singh.“Today’s wars transcend national borders and national security encompasses economic, digital, energy and food security,” he said in a virtual address at the Promotion Day celebrations and Diamond Jubilee of Sainik School in Gulajal.
He said the changing nature of the threat required not only a strong military but also an alert and prepared citizenry. Singh said every citizen must remain alert and prepared. He stressed the need for a strong military, backed by people who can stand side by side to defend the country under any circumstances. The government is sparing no effort to equip the armed forces with advanced weapons and technology, Singh said, adding that citizens, especially the youth, need to develop mental toughness and intellectual clarity through discipline and determination. He said these qualities would help the country face any challenge.Calling Sainik School a historic decision to admit girls, Singh said, “These girls will be the torchbearers of Nari Shakti.”
