Officials said the move is aimed at improving communications and access to information in remote, high-altitude areas.According to Defense PRO, the station will broadcast local news, weather forecasts and information on government plans, while also serving as a platform to promote local culture and encourage youth participation.It will further provide opportunities for local youth to develop communication skills and engage in community engagement.“The initiative will help connect communities, amplify local voices and support development in remote areas,” PTI quoted a senior Army official as saying.The radio station was inaugurated in the presence of senior Trishakti Corps officers, civil administration representatives and local community members.Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Border Highways (East) Jitendra Prasad inspected the landslide-affected areas of Talamchu in north Sikkim to understand the local situation.According to defense professionals, he assessed the damage and interacted with Border Roads Organization personnel deployed at the site. He also reviewed the ongoing repair work and directed officials to reopen the route as soon as possible, ANI reported.During the visit, Prasad inspected the progress of the work and reiterated the organization’s commitment to restoring and sustaining connectivity in the region, noting the importance of road connectivity to local communities and to border areas.
