New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah On Friday, a group of foreigners, including one U.S. citizen and six Ukrainians, saidniyans – recently arrested by the NIA from Kolkata, Lucknow and Delhi, does not pose any threat to India but is trying to use the country as a transit point for terror training in Myanmar.“They were caught planning a border crossing Mizoram Enter Myanmar, where insurgent bases will be used to provide training to Ukrainians. They did not obtain the necessary prior permission required by foreigners to enter Mizoram,” Shah said. This is the first time on record that government officials have clarified that the group’s interests lie in Myanmar and that India is merely a transit point.“There is no threat to India’s security. Our policy is that no foreigner who visits India due to wrongdoing will be spared,” he said. When asked about the deadline of March 31, 2026, to defeat Naxalism, the Home Minister said that it is not a matter of victory or defeat but a matter of stopping attacks and bombings, which in the words of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made it the biggest internal security threat. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Naxalism has been significantly curbed and development has now reached the tribal areas in the Tirupati-Pashupatinath corridor.
