Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and Public Authority for Food and Nutrition Kuwait Announced the withdrawal of Aptamil and Bebelac brand infant formulas produced by Nutricia-Danone. The recall was initiated after the company issued a voluntary notification of possible contamination with Ceeulide, a substance produced by Bacillus cereus that poses a health risk to infants. According to the SFDA, exposure to Cerulide may cause symptoms 30 minutes to 6 hours after consumption, including nausea, frequent vomiting and abdominal pain. The move is a precautionary recall following a comprehensive assessment of potential risks. Kuwait’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition said its decision was based on subsequent reports from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).Authorities clarified that no illnesses related to the recalled products have been reported in the Kingdom to date. However, consumers are strongly encouraged to check the batch number printed on the product packaging and dispose of the recalled product immediately.
