Samsung has made a major upgrade to the Galaxy S26 series to support file sharing with Apple devices. File sharing between Apple and Android devices has never been easier; users often have to rely on third-party apps or some workarounds to share files between these devices. That gap may eventually close as Samsung brings the feature to its smartphones.
According to details, Samsung is adding a new feature to the Quick Share file-sharing service that will enable smoother, seamless transfers across devices. The service started rolling out in South Korea on March 23 and will gradually expand to other regions, including Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia and North America. This feature is currently only available on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series and is expected to be more widely rolled out later.
Apple’s AirDrop has been one of its ecosystem’s biggest selling points for years, providing fast, hassle-free transfers between iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Android users, on the other hand, have long relied on solutions like “Nearby Share,” which eventually evolved into “Quick Share” through a partnership between Samsung and Google.
Despite these improvements, cross-platform transfers have always been a pain point, especially when sharing with Apple devices. Samsung’s recent move may finally change that, hinting that in the future Galaxy users will be able to share files with their iPhones as easily as iPhone users can use AirDrop.
This isn’t the first time someone has tried to bridge the divide. Google has previously pushed for smoother sharing across devices, but Apple’s walled garden approach makes true interoperability nearly impossible. If Samsung can do this reliably, it could redefine how Android and Apple devices communicate.
More importantly, this feature brings a level of differentiation to the Galaxy S26 series that goes beyond performance or camera upgrades. It positions the device as a step toward breaking down ecosystem barriers. For people who use both Android and iOS devices, or for households with both devices, this upgrade may be one of the most useful improvements in recent years.
