According to sources, communication between the AIADMK and TVK began earlier on Tuesday and senior leaders are exploring possible post-poll arrangements after TVK failed to secure a majority.“We have given unconditional support to a stable government. For us, anything is negotiable as long as there is mutual respect. However, there has been no response from TVK since Wednesday noon,” a senior leader, a close associate of Palaniswami, said.Talks between the two camps ended abruptly around noon on Wednesday, shortly after Congress offered conditional support to TVK, urging it to distance itself from “communal forces that do not believe in the Constitution”.“Vijay No response. He slighted us. Our voluntary support has not been adequately responded to. Therefore, we canceled the meeting. Now, we have to unite and show our political experience,” said a senior AIADMK leader familiar with the developments.Sources said the AIADMK leadership is unhappy with TVK’s handling of post-poll options while keeping an open mind on smaller parties that may not be able to provide stability during the political crisis.

The development comes as TVK seeks a majority in the 234-member tamil nadu assembly. The Indian National Congress, which has five MLAs, has extended its support to the party.In the assembly elections, TVK emerged as the largest party with 108 seats, followed by DMK (59 seats) and AIADMK (47 seats).The Congress won five seats while the BJP bagged four seats. IUML, CPI, CPM(M) and VCK won two seats each.The BJP, DMDK and AMMK won one seat each.
