New Delhi: federal interior minister Amit Shah On Sunday, he accused the Congress party of “defaming” India after lashing out at a topless protest by the opposition youth wing at a summit on the impact of artificial intelligence in New Delhi last month. Shah claims Rahul GandhiCongress member and opposition Lok Sabha leader “turned against India” as he turned against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party. “Congress is trying to defame the country by stripping off clothes at the AI summit. We are also against it but it has its place. You have turned the summit into a platform for personal politics while the world has come together to see India and invest in India,” he said at a rally in Guwahati. He added that instead of apologizing, Gandhi called the protesting Youth Congress workers “cruel”, a stance he called “irresponsible”. Shah further challenged the Congress to vigorously oppose the BJP but criticized their demonstrations for “narrowing the possibilities of Indian youth on a global platform”. “He (Gandhi) defamed India and its democracy in front of the world. You can fight against us with all your might, but you are running away in Parliament. When the world sees the power of India’s youth, you are narrowing their possibilities. The Indian public will not forgive you,” the senior BJP leader said.Shah praised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for making the state “self-sufficient” in healthcare. “He (Sarma) wants Assam to become a state where patients do not have to travel for treatment. Patients who used to travel to Chennai, Mumbai, Karnataka and Delhi for cancer treatment will now get treatment closer to home,” the home minister said. Shah inaugurated the new Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital and the Golaghat and Tinsukia Cancer Centers in Guwahati. He also actually laid the foundation for super specialty hospitals at Diphu, Jorhat and Barpeta Medical Colleges and Hospitals and Swasthya Bhawan and Abhayapuri District Hospitals. The Election Commission of India will announce the schedule for the Assam assembly elections at 4 pm. The BJP has been in power here since it first came to power in the state in 2016.
