AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary A Anbazhagan told reporters that his party will contest from Uppalam and Orleanspet constituencies and expressed confidence that the NDA will retain power in Puducherry.
“In the last assembly election held in 2021, we fought in five constituencies but lost all. This time, we contested in two constituencies and we will win in two constituencies. Due to multiple circumstances, the AIADMK fought with a reduced number of seats. Following the alliance dharma and maintaining it, the AIADMK contested in only two constituencies,” he said.

Replying to a question, the AIADMK leader said his party would definitely seek to share power when the NDA wins. “Are we in politics to do charity? For an MLA, the natural progression is to become a minister,” he said.
The ruling AINRC and the BJP-AIADMK combine on Friday reached an agreement for the assembly elections in the union territory, with the AINRC contesting from 16 seats and the BJP from the remaining 14 seats.
The arrangements were finalized after Puducherry Chief Minister and AIRC leader N Rangasamy held talks with BJP leader and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya at a hotel here on Friday.
The BJP has allotted two seats each to the AIADMK and Lakshia Jananayaga Katchi (LJK) from its kitty.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced a list of nine candidates for the April 9 assembly elections in Puducherry, where Home Minister A Namassivayam will contest for re-election from Mannadipet constituency.
