New Delhi: A 24-year-old man in Hyderabad who allegedly injected HIV-infected blood into a 22-year-old woman has tested positive for the virus, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred at the woman’s home on March 11. Police said the accused forcibly injected HIV-infected blood into the victim.According to investigators, the defendant and the woman were related and their families initially approved of their marriage. However, in September last year, the woman’s parents decided to have the man undergo medical testing after learning that his parents had been infected with HIV.“As he (the man) was found to be HIV-positive during the examination, the woman’s father canceled his daughter’s marriage to him,” a police officer said, adding that the accused acted like this because she thought her daughter would marry him and be with him forever.Following a complaint filed by the woman’s father, the police registered a case against the accused at Pocharam IT Corridor police station charging them with attempt to murder.Police said the suspect has been arrested and further investigation is underway. The woman has been taken to hospital for treatment.
