Priyanka Gandhi: Iran leader’s killings ‘despicable’

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said it was “despicable” for a “so-called leader of the democratic world” to assassinate Iran’s supreme leader.

New Delhi: Member of Parliament Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday said the targeted assassination of the leader of a sovereign country is “despicable” and deserves “strong condemnation”.She claimed that “so-called leaders of the democratic world” were the masterminds of the murder of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.this congress MPs also accused the Indian Prime Minister of Narendra Modi “Kneel down before the Prime Minister of Israel and the President of the United States.”Congress called the Modi government’s response to the Iran war and silence on Khamenei’s killing a “betrayal of India’s values, principles and interests.” She also added that India is paying a heavy price for the substance and style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy.Congresswoman Priyanka called it a “tragedy” that multiple countries were drawn into the conflict. “The world needs peace, not more unnecessary wars,” she recalled, recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s words “an eye for an eye and the whole world will be blinded”. Parliament spokesman Jairam Ramesh said that Modi visited Israel on February 25 and 26, when the world knew that the United States and Israel would attack Iran, and his speech in the Israeli Knesset was a “shameful display of moral cowardice.”Referring to Modi’s defeat, Ramesh said Trump was continuing his “romance” with Pakistan, praised Field Marshal General Asim Munir for his incendiary rhetoric that provided the backdrop for the Pahalgam terror attack and said more than 100 times that he had halted Operation Sindoor. He also said the United States was supporting Pakistan’s war in Afghanistan.
