He shared a post on the government’s citizen engagement platform ‘MyGovIndia’ on various milestones achieved and steps taken to empower women. The President said that despite women playing a leading role in various fields and making great efforts to empower women, they still face many obstacles in their development path. “For example, even today many women face issues such as discrimination, equal pay and domestic violence,” Murmu stressed. These challenges cannot be solved through legislation alone. “Change in society’s mindset is crucial,” the President said while addressing an event organized by the Women and Child Development Department in the national capital. She stressed that every child must be treated equally and it was important that there was no discrimination between daughters and sons in any family. “Only by transcending sexist mindsets can we truly achieve social equality.”While reviewing the achievements so far, the President said that India is rapidly moving towards women-led development. “The last decade has laid a solid foundation for removing obstacles in the path of women. India has achieved gender equality in school education. Even in higher education, the number of female students is higher in terms of gross enrollment ratio,” she said.Murmu noted that female participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education is increasing rapidly and “our daughters are being prepared for leadership roles in the knowledge economy.”Women are also increasingly becoming job creators. Murmu pointed out that more than half of the startups receiving support under the Startup India program have at least one woman director. Labor laws implemented last year aim to provide a more inclusive, safe and empowering working environment for women workers.“Women can make the greatest contribution to nation-building in an environment free from fear and discrimination,” the President said, calling on all citizens to commit themselves to eradicating all forms of discrimination prevalent in society.Sharing a post on ‘MyGovIndia’, Prime Minister Modi said, “How the lives of women at the grassroots level have changed in the last decade…”“Across every field, women are shaping India’s progress with determination, creativity and unparalleled passion. Their achievements inspire our nation and strengthen our collective resolve to build Viksit Bharat. ““We remain committed to creating opportunities that enable every woman to realize her full potential and contribute to India’s development path,” the Prime Minister said.“Indian Nari Shakti’s achievements are a source of pride and a powerful reminder of the transformative role played in nation-building.”“As India progresses further, the aspirations and contributions of women will continue to guide our collective journey towards a strong and prosperous nation,” he added.
