‘Politically motivated lies’: Himanta Biswa Sarma denies Pawan Hera’s allegations, vows to file defamation suit

Keira sparked a backlash after raising a series of questions at a press conference about Salma’s wife, alleged foreign property and financial ties while demanding an investigation into the matter.Sarma said that he and his wife Linki Bhuyan Sarma will file criminal and civil defamation cases against the Congress leader within the next 48 hours.

In a post on X, Sarma vehemently denied all the allegations and accused Congress of spreading false narratives.“Pawan Khera’s press conference today reflects the deep frustration and panic within the government. As Assam moves decisively towards historic mandate, such desperate and unfounded attacks will only expose their decline. “He denied the allegations and said: “I categorically reject every allegation made by him. These are maliciously fabricated, politically motivated lies designed to mislead the people of Assam.”Sarma wrote: “My wife and I will file criminal and civil defamation proceedings against Shri Pawan Khera within the next 48 hours. He will take full responsibility for his reckless and defamatory statements.” Expressing confidence in the legal process, he said, “I have complete faith in the judiciary. Once the truth is found out in court, Shri Pawan Khera will face the consequences of his actions and due process of law will be taken.”

During the press conference, Keira made a series of accusations and questioned Salma and her family. Keira also questioned the source of the alleged wealth and called for action. “Should Himanta explain how he earned Rs 52,000 crore?”“Based on this information, Himanta will not get a day out of jail; his nomination should be revoked.”He further alleged that Sarma’s wife, Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, had business and property connections abroad.“Himanta’s wife Rinki Bhuyan Sarma owns a company in Wyoming, USA. The members of the company include Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, Himanta Biswa Sarma and their son.”

Keira also raised questions about the alleged property in Dubai and its disclosure. “The question is – why did Himanta not disclose his wife’s property in Dubai in the affidavit?”He concluded by urging the authorities to take action and seeking a response from the central leadership. “Home Minister Amit Shah, please respond – will he set up an SIT to look into the matter?” Keira asked.
