NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief ministers, excluding those from polled countries, to review preparedness and plans to deal with the fallout from conflicts in West Asia amid concerns over energy supplies.Official sources said the video conference will be in the spirit of ‘Team India’ and focus on synergy between states and Union Territories. However, the chief ministers of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, as well as the Union Territory of Puducherry, will not join due to provisions of the code of conduct. A separate chief secretary will be appointed to the Cabinet Secretariat.
Since the United States and Israel launched war against Iran on February 28, Modi has emphasized readiness for adverse consequences, especially related to oil and fertilizer imports, while warning against panic and insisting that fuel supplies are sufficient. He has discussed the issue in both houses of parliament and the government has held an all-party meeting to brief all parties.
