PM Modi says Tamil Nadu wants government to work for every family, not just one

Trichy: Prime Minister Narendra Modi The NDA on Wednesday was positioned as a credible alternative to the Dravida Munnetra Kazagam in Tamil Nadu and appealed to the people to support the alliance to bring transparent governance and faster development to the state.Addressing an NDA rally in Trichy, Modi said the upcoming elections are the most important in the history of Tamil Nadu. “The choice before the people is clear. One path leads to dynastic politics and corruption. The other path leads to development, opportunity and honest governance,” he said.Modi said, “The desire for change is gaining huge momentum. The entire country is determined to topple the DMK government. People want the government to work for every family, not just one family, and they know that only an NDA can bring about this change.”He said infrastructure funds given to Tamil Nadu have tripled in the last decade. The NDA government spent nearly Rs 57,000 crore on highways, four times more than the Congress-DMK government. “Nearly 8,000 crore rupees have been invested in building rural roads,” Modi said.He said farmers in the delta region are the backbone of food security in Tamil Nadu but the DMK has failed to deliver on its promises. “They deserve fair prices, good facilities and modern warehousing infrastructure. The DMK also promised a substantial increase in MSP for paddy but failed to deliver on these promises,” he said. He claimed illegal sand mining was destroying rivers and threatening the environment. “However, those responsible are still protected by the DMK,” he claimed. The rally was attended by alliance party leaders including AIADMK general secretary Eddapati K Palanisami, PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss, AMMK’s TTV Dhinakaran and TMC leader GK Vasan. This is Modi’s third visit to the state this year and second this month.
