Gandhi insisted on raising the issue of the India-China confrontation of August 2020 and was repeatedly interrupted by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and later Home Minister Amit Shah, who asked him not to quote from any unverified sources. Naravane was the army chief at the time of the Ladakh conflict. The excerpts quoted by Rahul Gandhi were recently published by an online portal.Earlier, on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi had written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressing his “strong opposition” for not giving him an opportunity to speak on the President’s address during the ongoing budget session. He called the ban a “stain on our democracy” and alleged that the government was “scared” of what was written in the book.
