‘Please speed up my return’: Rahul Gandhi’s response to ‘BJP supporter’ financier wins internet’s attention

The interaction started when X user Muthukrishnan Dhandapani claimed in a detailed post that Gandhi had been his mutual fund investment client since the Congress-led UPA government came to power in 2013.Dandapani, whose resume X shows him as an AMFI-registered mutual fund dealer, said he had openly supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP between 2014 and 2024, but claimed Gandhi and his staff never allowed political differences to affect their professional relationship.“This subject was never raised by Rahul or his office staff to me,” he wrote, adding that Gandhi “treated me with the utmost respect and never displayed any arrogance.”He also claimed that Gandhi had sought his professional advice in selecting key professionals some years ago.“This article was published to show how mainstream media and political party IT departments can make someone look completely inhumane,” Dandapani wrote.Replying to the post, Gandhi humorously replied: “Muthu ji, your political views are your own – but please speed up my return on investment. 😃”The response quickly attracted attention online. As of the filing of the report, Gandhi’s replies have been viewed more than 1.5 million times, liked more than 31,000 times, retweeted more than 5,600 times, and commented on more than 1,000 times.Dandapani later replied: “Very surprised by your response.”Some users praised the politeness and humor of the exchange.“I don’t vote for your party but this tweet made me laugh,” one user wrote. “Another commented: “Professionalism transcends politics. People are often more nuanced than what we see on screen.”However, some users questioned whether public disclosure of client relationships was professionally appropriate.“This kind of conversation is very rare in the new Indian political world, but I still think it’s unprofessional to share the client’s name first,” one user wrote.Others continued the humor, with one quipped: “Even Rahul relies on Modi supporters for his ‘hard-earned’ investments!”
