‘Open protection of rapists’: PM Modi slams TMC over RG Kar, Sandeshkhali cases

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday launched a stinging attack on the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), while addressing a massive rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, accused the state government of “protecting rapists”, undermining constitutional institutions and insulting the President Draupadi Murmu.Talking about Sandeshkhali and the atrocities faced by a woman at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the Prime Minister said, “Here, an insensitive government openly protects rapists and makes every effort to protect criminals. Sandeshkhali’s photo and TMC’s attitude, and the atrocities faced by that daughter at RG Kar Hospital, the people of Bengal have not forgotten. People have not forgotten TMC. Way to publicly stand with the accused. “This is the outcome of this. ” Crimes like acid attacks on women are happening in large numbers in West Bengal today…I assure the mothers and sisters of Bengal that if you bless the BJP, women will be safe under the BJP government and the criminals will be jailed, this is Modi’s assurance. “The Prime Minister also accused the TMC government of disrespecting the President during his recent visit to North Bengal.

“TMC has not only insulted the president but also the tribes of this country, the people of this country and the Constitution. TMC has crossed all boundaries by insulting President Drupadi Murmu,” Modi said.He said Murmu had traveled to the state to participate in the Santal tribal festival but claimed the program was mishandled by the state government. “Just a few days ago, Her Excellency Drupadi Murmu Ji, the president of our country and revered daughter of the indigenous community, came to Bangladesh. She was to participate in the holy festival of Santal Adivasi tradition, but this arrogant and ruthless government not only boycotted the plan but completely handed it over to complete chaos,” he said.PM Modi further claimed: “Since the daughter of an indigenous community holds such a high position, people in the TMC cannot accept her honour.”Intensifying his attack ahead of the assembly elections, Prime Minister Modi also accused the TMC of opposing the special enhanced revision (SIR) of the electoral roll to protect “infiltrators”.“TMC opposes SIR so that infiltrators can be protected,” he said.Claiming that infiltration has changed the demography of several districts in the state, he said, “Due to uncontrolled infiltration, the demography of several districts of West Bengal has changed. The TMC has deliberately made Hindus a minority in many districts.”The prime minister further claimed that the ruling party was opposed to citizenship for Hindu refugees for political reasons. “TMC is against granting citizenship to Hindu refugees as they do not consider them as their vote bank,” he claimed.He also accused the TMC of attacking constitutional institutions, saying it was shameful for the party to target institutions like the Election Commission of India.
