New Delhi: Former Army Chief General Naravane says he will only write novels now. The statement was made at a book signing event on Friday. Naravane’s unpublished memoir “Four Stars of Destiny” caused an uproar in Parliament last month from the opposition Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi Quoting an excerpt from the book published in the magazine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accused of “failing in his responsibilities” in the 2020 India-China military conflict in Ladakh.“I have been writing articles from time to time, not just military reports but also articles for various academic journals of the Army. I have also written a few short stories, one of which was even published in Woman magazine. I only write novels now,” he added.“My book Camp Conspiracy came out last year, and I’m happy to say that it was relatively good for a first-time author who couldn’t write. Writing the book, and transitioning from a soldier to a storyteller, was a fun journey. So I enjoyed writing it, and I’m sure everyone who reads it will enjoy reading it,” he said.During a motion of thanks for the President’s address on February 2, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi tried to quote a magazine article containing excerpts from Naravane’s unpublished memoirs, sparking a heated debate in the Lok Sabha. Gandhi’s speech was interrupted by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who objected to quoting material from an unverified and unpublished book. Ruling lawmakers also opposed the move, exacerbating confrontation in the House of Representatives. The dispute escalated further when opposition MPs moved a no-confidence motion against Om Birla, claiming that Gandhi would not be allowed to speak. However, the motion was later defeated by voice vote during the second phase of the budget session of Parliament.
