New Delhi: President Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Mohan Bhagwat It was reiterated on Tuesday that Hindu families should consider having at least three children.Addressing a social harmony conference at Saraswatish Shuman Dir in Lucknow, Bhagwat expressed concern over what he said was the declining Hindu population and called for unity and empowerment of Hindu society.“There is a need to unite and empower Hindus. We are not under threat but must remain vigilant,” Bhagwat said.Expressing concern over infiltration, Bhagwat said infiltrators should be “discovered, removed and deported” and should not be provided with employment opportunities. He also said Hindu families should consider having at least three children, citing scientific opinion that societies with average fertility rates below three children may disappear in the future.Bhagwat said newlyweds should be aware of this, adding that the purpose of marriage is to promote creation and not just fulfill one’s own desires.Disharmony will lead to discrimination, he said, emphasizing that all citizens belong to one country and one motherland.“Sanatan thought is a philosophy of harmony,” Bhagwat said, adding that differences that arise over time must be resolved through understanding and practice.Replying to a question on the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, Bhagwat said the law must be followed and if the law is flawed, it can be amended through constitutional means. He said caste differences should not be a source of conflict and called for promoting a sense of belonging among the disadvantaged groups.Bhagwat said that India will lead the world in the near future and the solutions to many global problems depend on the country’s civilized spirit. He said regular grassroots meetings should promote social harmony, eliminate misunderstandings and solve social problems while providing support to vulnerable groups in society. The RSS chief warned that some elements in the US and China were harming social harmony in India and called for vigilance and mutual trust.
