‘No existential threat’: Israeli foreign minister mocks Iran, says cannot promise this will be ‘last war’

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said on Wednesday that current and future conflicts were still a possibility and said the country could not guarantee that the current war would be the last.Amid continued tensions in the region, Sa’ar said Israel’s adversaries still retain the ability to launch attacks, although they do not currently pose a fundamental threat to the country’s existence. “We also need to remain vigilant against the machinations of our enemies in the future,” he said. “We have no guarantee that this will be the ‘last war,'” he said. His comments come as the war in the Middle East enters its second month and shows no signs of abating. The offensive continues to escalate on both sides, with only the United States, Israel and Iran and their allies. While Israeli officials insist that their security posture already contains significant threats, they acknowledge that risks posed by hostile actors remain.Sa’ar stressed that despite the ongoing hostilities, Israel currently faces no “existential threat,” indicating that while security challenges remain, they are being managed within the country’s defense framework.Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that Iran had asked for a “ceasefire” and went on to describe “the new Iranian regime as less aggressive and smarter”.
