Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, and authorities believe she was taken from her home the night before. Three months later, no suspects have been named in the case. 84-year-old TODAY host mother Savannah Guthrie Not found yet.
In the meantime, an expert shares insights into the man behind the kidnapping. Dr. Gary Brucato, a member of the Cold Case Foundation, shared his expert perspective in an interview with NewsNation’s Brian Entin.
Brucato is a clinical psychologist, researcher and author in the fields of psychosis and violence, according to a profile from the Cold Case Foundation Page. foundation describe According to its LinkedIn profile, the company is “committed to stopping the deadly compounding effect of cold cases and providing hope and resources to families impacted by violent crime.”
Meanwhile, Entin reports Guthrie case The grounds in Tucson were searched after the octogenarian was taken from his home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona.
Speaking about the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping, Brucato turned his attention to the masked man seen in the old woman’s home. This is the closest information the FBI has released to the public on the suspect. They are assisting the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on the case, and the visual of the masked man has sparked much speculation.
However, experts seem to indicate that the masked man was not the mastermind of the case. He hinted that the “spider’s web” could lead to someone more sinister. “When he is caught, if he is still alive, he will follow the spider web all the way to the center, where you will find a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” the expert noted.
He was referring to the fact that if they traced Guthrie’s whereabouts, the masked man would be taken alive by the law. Brucato also said there was someone “at the center,” or behind the scenes, pulling the strings over the entire case. Experts described the man as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
It’s worth noting that, according to Cambridge Dictionary, the phrase refers to “someone or something that looks good but is actually not good at all.” While Brucato did not explicitly mention whether the suspect may have been close to the family, his choice of words suggested it was unlikely the person the family suspected. Therefore, it is possible that this person was simply close to them, although Brucato did not explicitly state this when speaking to Entin.
Many seemed to agree with Brucato’s analysis of the situation. “I 100% agree with this,” wrote the person who shared the post. Others chimed in, writing “Agree” and “Similarly”. Notably, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has ruled out family members as suspects, saying they are not suspects. This comes amid scrutiny of daughter Anne Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, because they were among the last people to see Guthrie before she was taken away.
