Nancy Guthrie Update: Heartbreaking Mother’s Day message to kidnapper outside Tucson home, ‘Mom would be ashamed’

Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on February 1. Authorities believe she was taken the night before from her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona. Three months later, neither the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, which handled the case, nor the FBI, which assisted, have publicly released the names of any suspects. Meanwhile, Guthrie’s children, “Today” show host Savannah and her siblings, Anne and Camren continue to hold out hope for their mother’s return.

One person pointed to this mother-son relationship in an attempt to send a message to the kidnappers, trying to remind them of their mother.

“Someone posted this Mother’s Day message outside Nancy Guthrie’s house, addressed to her kidnapper,” he wrote, sharing a video and photo of the message.

“Your mom would be mortified if she knew what you did. So before you send her flowers on Mother’s Day, please take Nancy home or tell your family where she is…” the sign reads. It’s an attempt to get the kidnappers to reflect on their humanity, think about their relationship with their mother, and see Guthrie as a mother figure as well, all in the hope that they can return to being an octogenarian.

A person named Lauren Serpa claims she posted the message for her kidnappers. “I wrote a new letter to this offender this morning in front of Nancy Guthrieth. I will continue to withhold her name until she is found,” she wrote. Before that, she explain “I also have a sign targeting criminals that I put up at Nancy’s Pub on the weekends.”

Serpa explained Back in April, she knew why she was so committed to caring for Guthrie’s memorial. She claims Guthrie helped her “emotionally” when her fiancé died in 2015 and the two have remained in touch. “The family needs to find Nancy,” she added.
