She made the remarks during a podcast with NewsNation reporter Brian Entin, who has been following the Nancy Guthrie case from the beginning. The former FBI agent was speaking with Entin a few weeks ago when she made the remarks.

What the former FBI agent said about Tommaso Cioni

Amid all the speculation surrounding Tommaso since Nancy Guthrie disappeared, the former FBI agent noticed an “interesting” thing about Tommaso.

Speaking about the case, O’Connell said “they didn’t mention” or even “mention” the brother-in-law’s name in anything. “The fact that he wasn’t mentioned at all is very interesting to me,” the former law enforcement official continued. Excerpts from the video have been shared on social media and can see here.

Notably, Tommaso Cioni was not mentioned by law enforcement. Former NewsNation reporter Ashleigh Banfield initially reported that the son-in-law was a possible suspect in the case. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department, who took the lead, quickly shut her down. Later, Sheriff Chris Nanos also clarified that none of the family members were suspects.

However, as the public followed Nancy Guthrie’s case, interest in Tommaso only grew. The octogenarian mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, and authorities believe she was abducted from her home the night before. The chronology of events has fueled more speculation surrounding Tommaso and his wife, Nancy’s daughter, Anne Guthrie.

Nancy had dinner with Anne the night she was believed to have been taken. Tommaso reportedly walked her home after dinner. This would make them among the last people to see Nancy before she disappeared. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department impounded Anne and Tommaso’s car but later returned it to the couple. Notably, amid the public scrutiny of Tommaso, the former FBI agent found it interesting that his name was completely omitted from anything related to the case. However, this does not mean that Tommaso will be further involved. Officially, he is not suspected in any way.

While authorities may not have said anything to Tommaso Cioni, Savannah Guthrie has defended him and his wife, her sister Anne. Savannah shut down the speculation surrounding them, making it clear that both Tommaso and Anne loved Nancy very much.

Although several months have passed since Nancy Guthrie disappeared, no suspects have been named in the case. Nanos recently ended Defend the rhythm The FBI is investigating DNA evidence that the Sheriff’s Department initially chose to send to a private lab.
