What a former FBI agent said

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffendaver suggested that lunar activity could explain the different light in the images.

According to unconfirmed reports from NewsNation, FBI Coffindaffer Asked Guthrie’s neighbors for surveillance footage from January 11 and January 24, Coffindaffer wrote on It’s a full moon (100% moonlight).

“Could this explain the difference in lighting in the background in these two photos?” Cofendav wondered.

What does the surveillance video show?

On February 10, the FBI released doorbell camera video showing a man wearing a ski mask, jacket, pants, gloves and a holster on Nancy Guthrie’s porch the night she disappeared. It was later reported that the same masked man had been spotted at Guthrie’s home earlier.

The suspect is described by the FBI as a male, approximately 5 feet 9 or 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and carrying a 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.

Authorities respond to image differences

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said last month they noticed differences in the suspect’s clothing in the images, including with and without a backpack.

However, officials said there were no time stamps on the photos, adding that “any suggestion that these photos were taken on different dates is pure speculation.”

“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to analyze various forms of evidence in the case of Nancy Guthrie, including materials from laboratories and camera images and videos. At this time, we will not comment on the details or status of this analysis,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
