“Everyone wants to know a lot of things, but as a law enforcement leader, it would be very negligent and irresponsible for me to share this information with everyone. You can’t. There are investigations, there are protocols,” Sheriff Chris Nanos said, according to KVOA.

He also acknowledged that some gloves found near Nancy’s home after she went missing on February 1 may have had different DNA results.

“There were some claims and discussions that the police discarded them at the scene, which couldn’t be further from the truth. We knew at the time and we believed wholeheartedly that these gloves belonged to a restaurant, and guess what? We found out that the owner of the gloves worked at a restaurant across the street. It had nothing to do with the case,” Nanos said.

He also mentioned that the gloves sent to the Florida lab could be different and that DNA testing could take time.

“It’s a challenge because we know we have DNA, but now we have to deal with this mixture and how to separate it,” he added.

It’s unclear what type of gloves the restaurant worker would be wearing.

The Sheriff also addressed the suspect captured on Nancy’s doorbell video and the speculation surrounding his appearance.

“I’ve gotten speculation from other people that he’s wearing this and not this. He looks like this and he looks different. All those analogies, all of that, we understand the speculation. But I can’t continue to speculate. We need evidence,” Nanos said.
