Nancy Guthrie News: FBI confirms suspect’s DNA match, black gloves lead to major breakthrough

Investigators are trying to track the suspect based on the outline of the gloves the suspect was wearing that night captured on a security camera inside Nancy Guthrie’s door. kidnapping. The FBI released the video earlier this week.

The FBI told Fox 10 Phoenix that the DNA profile of one of the 16 gloves found “appears to match the subject’s gloves in the surveillance video.” However, as of now, the FBI has not officially confirmed this update and is awaiting test results.

“The FBI received preliminary results yesterday, February 14, and is awaiting quality control and official confirmation today before placing the unknown male profile into CoDIS, the FBI’s exclusive national database,” a statement from Fox 10 read. “The process usually takes 24 hours from the time the bureau receives the DNA.” CODIS stands for Combined DNA Index System.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC Today show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since January 31. The celebrity connections brought more media attention to the case, making it one of the highest-profile crime stories in recent years.

Missing Nancy Guthrie: Latest Day 15 Update

The latest news about the gloves comes after seemingly resigned Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said it could take “years to months” to find Nancy Guthrie. However, the DNA test results coming out 24 hours later could be the next big breakthrough in the case, following the earlier release of the Nest video clip.

So far, no arrests have been made. The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office have not detained anyone. A tip line has been opened and the FBI is actively seeking information from the public regarding the whereabouts of Nancy Guthrie.
