A NewsNation report on Sunday revealed exclusive details about the search. The outlet cited a source familiar with the investigation as saying that although the video showed a masked person, investigators had not yet identified an “immediate suspect.”

More than 63 days have passed since Nancy Guthrie was last seen outside her home in Catalina, and police have yet to “release a name,” NewsNation’s Brian Entin reported exclusively on Sunday. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the case was wrongly described as a search and rescue case rather than a potential criminal matter. This was described as a “serious mistake”.

“This rush to judgment has accompanied the investigation,” the report quoted sources as saying. “They’re treating it as a search and rescue issue rather than a possible criminal issue.”

“People were removing boxes from Nancy Guthrie’s home without her consent,” he wrote in a post on X, describing the entire case as “pure evil“.

Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie will return to “Today” on Monday, April 7 at 7:00 a.m. ET as co-anchor.
