Nancy Guthrie case update: Man detained for questioning; search for missing woman ongoing

ability: A person of interest in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has reportedly been detained, according to Fox News investigative reporter Michael Ruiz, who cited law enforcement sources in a post on X. The man has not been arrested but is being held for questioning.

According to ABC News, the person was detained at Tucson. Law enforcement officers are currently preparing to search properties associated with this individual.

The video shows the man, who appears to be wearing a handgun in a holster, approach the front door and allegedly tamper with the doorbell camera. The man was also seen wearing a backpack and a ski mask.

FBI Director Kash Patel shared the images on X, saying it took investigators days to recover the footage.

“Over the past eight days, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to various factors, including deletion of the recording device. The video was recovered from residual data in the back-end system,” he wrote.

“Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has discovered these new, previously inaccessible images showing an armed man who appears to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning she disappeared.”

White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt spoke about his reaction after the FBI released the video on Tuesday.

“Of course, like all Americans, his initial reaction was pure disgust,” Levitt said.
