More than two months have passed since the disappearance was reported, and authorities have yet to name the suspect or announce Guthrie‘s whereabouts. As the case dragged on, Guthrie’s neighbors began to worry that she might not be found and the case might go unsolved.

One of the neighbors spoke to NewsNation reporter Brian Entin, who has been following the Guthrie case from the beginning.

“Learned something new from Nancy Guthrie’s neighbor. She’s worried the case won’t be solved,” he wrote, sharing a video of their interaction on X.

What did Nancy Guthrie’s neighbors say?

Entin spoke with Aldine, Guthrie’s neighbor. Describing the community now as it was when the case began, the woman said, “It’s quiet now,” adding that “everyone’s gone,” suggesting that media attention and focus on the matter has dwindled over time. “It was quiet, but there was a sadness. Like we all missed Nancy,” she added.

The neighbor added that she thinks about “solutions” to Guthrie’s case every day. The woman further continued: “… to find out who took her and what happened, we’d love to know.”

Entin also asked her if she had spoken to the police about the kidnapping. While the woman noted that she had spoken to the FBI, she said it was about a letter that was sent to her home and addressed to Entin that contained some wild theories about the Guthrie case.

Speaking to other neighbours’ accounts, the woman said they were mostly “sad”, adding they were “wondering to know what happened”. She also expressed the hope that similar things would not happen again.

The neighbor added that people still come to Guthrie’s memorial to lay flowers, just not as many as before.

“It’s been three months, are you still worried that the matter has not been resolved?” Enting then asked the woman. “Well, we don’t think this issue has been resolved,” she responded, adding, “It’s a concern for all of us.” The woman also noted that someone “had to talk” to find clues about the masked man in the video.

Notably, this is the closest authorities have come to sharing suspicious details with the public.

Experts aim to build suspect profile

Entin also revealed that he is meeting with experts to help build a suspect profile. Reporters are preparing a May 6 episode on the Guthrie case that will discuss such topics.

NewsNation presents: “The Nancy Guthrie Mysteries” will feature three criminal profilers, Dr. Ann Burgess, Dr. Gary Brocato and Dr. Kathy Jordan. Their goal with Entin was reportedly to build a clearer profile of the suspects.

“I think people [will find the special] interesting because [the profilers] There are some interesting theories based on cases they have worked on in the past as well as statistics. What they are really looking at is a pattern of other crimes and kidnappings to help narrow down the motive and who they think they are [suspect] That could be the case,” Entin said.
