‘Namo Bharat’ fast rail corridor to be a change of pace for Delhi: CM Gupta | India News

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said the ‘Namobharat’ fast rail corridor connecting Delhi and Meerut will be a game changer in the national capital and thanked the Prime Minister for the “priceless gift”.Prime Minister Narendra Modi Dedicating the entire 82-km-long Delhi Meerut Namobarat Corridor to the nation, the remaining two sections of India’s first Namobarat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) will also be inaugurated.

The sections completed include a 5-km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and a 21-km stretch between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.The Chief Minister emphasized that in view of Delhi’s growing population pressure and commuting challenges, the project will make a significant contribution to the overall development of the city.Gupta said in a statement that the corridor will help passengers save time and resources and mark a historic milestone for Delhi and surrounding areas.The corridor stretches from the national capital Delhi to Meerut and will provide fast and reliable connectivity to hundreds of thousands of passengers every day.Additionally, the project is expected to have a positive impact on the environment by easing traffic congestion and reducing carbon emissions by reducing the number of private vehicles on the road, she said.Describing the success of the project as a significant example of infrastructure progress in the country, Gupta said it will stimulate economic activities in the Delhi-NCR region, increase employment opportunities and accelerate balanced regional development.Expressing deep gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of Delhi, she said the initiative is a “priceless gift” to the people of Delhi and will serve as a transformative foundational step for generations to come.
