Many people were injured after the accident explode at Aspen Airgel Co. on Dexter Road in East Providence, rhode islandWednesday. Bob DaSilva, Mayor of East Providence wrote “The East Providence Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency are responding to an explosion and fire at Aspen Airgel on Dexter Road,” on Facebook.

It was reported to be a chemical explosion and many people said they heard a “loud bang”. As news of the explosion broke, horrific visuals began to appear showing a large presence of first responders.
“East Providence, Dexter Road, reporting a chemical explosion, command reports an ongoing fire, MCI announced eight rescue personnel from each command were on scene to provide mutual aid and coverage to the scene,” a Washington County fire Scanner report read.
The number and extent of injuries is currently unknown. The cause of the explosion is currently unclear.
Several people said they heard a loud bang. “Did anyone else hear a loud bang?” one of them asked. Another added: “What explosion just happened in east Providence?”
Some people shared videos of the fire and explosion on social media. One person wrote “East Providence reports explosion.”
Another added: “If you live in Rumford please let your pets close the windows, the chemicals are terrible and you don’t want to breathe this stuff in, there will be serious explosions… turn on the air purifier and don’t go out without covering your face.”
The video is from inside a vehicle, with people inside narrating the fire truck’s movements and sharing visuals of what’s happening on the road.
Another person who shared the photo wrote: “Massive emergency response at East Providence facility.”
The footage showed a large number of fire trucks at the scene.
