Will T20 ruin Test cricket in India?

Ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad, KSCA will unveil a commemorative plaque near the entrance to the stadium, close to the mural. The memorial service aims to create a lasting space of remembrance within a venue that has witnessed both joy and tragedy. In addition, 11 seats in the stadium will be permanently reserved in memory of those who lost their lives. These seats will not be sold at any game, including international games. The seats are expected to be grouped together in one premier stand so that the area is cordoned off as a mark of respect. On the day of the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore will also conduct a tribute program before the match. The names of the victims will be displayed in the stadium, followed by a minute’s silence. Visiting teams are also expected to attend commemorative events. The plaque will be a memorial point, similar to the Hillsborough Cenotaph at Anfield, commemorating the 97 Liverpool fans who died in a crush during the FA Cup semi-final at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield on 15 April 1989.President confirms KSCA’s plans Venkatesh Prasad Speaking to TOI, “Even the reminder of this tragic incident is painful. But we have been discussing the memorial with the management committee and other key stakeholders for some time and it was unanimously agreed that it is very important to remember these 11 individuals. We do not want to rekindle any pain; instead, remember them. That is why we have decided to erect an epitaph for those cricket fans whose lives were tragically cut short.” Regarding the marked seats, Prasad refused to reveal the information and said: “This is a mutual decision between KSCA and the team as they are an integral part of the Chinnaswamy Stadium.”RCB chief executive Rajesh Menon remained unavailable for comment. As cricket returns to the Chinnaswamy Stadium, tributes have ensured that the memory of those lost remains etched in the fabric of the ground where they gathered to celebrate.
