Megyn Kelly slams Tiger Woods for calling Trump during DUI arrest: ‘Stupid move’

The controversy began after the New York Post reported that Woods appeared to have called Trump during his arrest, prompting Kelly to label the move “inappropriate conduct.”

On March 27, Woods was dating the president’s former daughter-in-law. Vanessa TrumpHe allegedly rolled his black Range Rover and called the president while it was still lying on its side.

During a recent episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show” last week, Kelly called the call a “stupid move” and hypothesized that the embattled famous golfer was trying to avoid the consequences.

“It was clear he was calling to get out of this situation in some way,” she said.

“Yeah, I was just talking to the president,” Woods casually told a deputy on the phone, according to body camera footage from the arrest.

“Thank you very much,” Woods said in a video of the call.

Kelly, however, envisioned a scenario in which Trump might call Woods to express regret for the PR mistake he made the night before and speculate on camera that Woods would play in the Masters this year.

Kelly then returned to his original narrative, saying: “I’m going to go with Tiger and call him and ask for help because he knows it’s going to be a PR disaster and probably a legal disaster – and he’s right about both.”

According to an arrest document cited by CNN on Tuesday, Woods told an officer at the scene that he was checking his phone and switching radio stations and did not notice the other car slowing down.

However, body camera footage documenting the moments before and after Woods’ arrest shows Woods taking several field sobriety tests as officers appeared to zero in on a series of mistakes. During a vision test, he moved his head while being asked to stay still, and during a coordination exercise that required him to make fists, clap his hands and count out loud, he miscounted.

Later, the Martin County Sheriff also noted that Woods’ eyes were bloodshot, watery, and his pupils were “extremely” dilated, in addition to performing sobriety tests.

The video also shows investigators finding two white pills in Woods’ pocket.
