Meghalaya ‘honeymoon murder’ case: Court grants bail to Sonam Raghuvansh

Shillong: A Shillong court has granted bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the main accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi on May 23, 2025, during their honeymoon trip in Sohra, Cherrapunjee, on the grounds that the police failed to convey the reason for the arrest to her.Additionally DC (Judiciary) Dashalene R Kharbteng waived the bail of Rs 50,000 with sureties of the same amount. However, the court ordered Sonam Raghuvanshi to stay in Shillong and appear before the hearing.Shortly after the court order was issued, the victim’s family announced plans to file a lawsuit in a higher court to have the bail revoked.Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi and mother Uma Raghuvanshi expressed pain and claimed injustice.This is Sonam’s fourth bail appeal.
