Meanwhile, the number of space experts dead or missing reached 14, and officials began investigating “possibly sinister connections.”

In a letter to the FBI director, Burleson Kashi Patel“,” he wrote, “Mr. Sullivan’s death is a local medical examiner’s case in Virginia, and the manner and circumstances of his death raise significant questions as he prepares to provide testimony to Congress.”

Burleson added: “The sudden and suspicious circumstances surrounding his death raise serious concerns about potential foul play and the safety of others involved in the matter.”

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Northern District later reported that Matthew James Sullivan, 39, died at his home in Falls Church, Virginia, on May 12, 2024, from a lethal mixture of alcohol, alprazolam, cyclobenzaprine and imipramine.

Ipramine is a drug used to treat anxiety and bedwetting in children; cyclobenzaprine is a powerful prescription muscle relaxant that acts on the central nervous system; and alprazolam is a generic version of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.

The New York Post reported that Sullivan was part of the U.S. government’s crash retrieval program, also known as “Legacy.” UFO Project” has been operating in secret across multiple administrations for decades.

According to the outlet, Sullivan is supposed to reveal this legacy plan at a congressional hearing in November 2024 because he witnessed a UFO in federal possession.

However, he died mysteriously before the hearing.

The FBI said in a statement that Sullivan’s death and that of a dozen other missing or dead U.S. scientists may be investigated.

“While we do not comment on specific incidents, the FBI is leading efforts to connect missing and deceased scientists. We are working with the Department of Energy, the Department of War, and our state and local law enforcement partners to find answers,” the FBI said.

At the funeral, retired major general David Abba, a former director of special projects and later director of the Defense Department’s Central Office of Special Visits Programs, said Sullivan bore the “burden of a handful of people in this country who really understood what was going on.”
