The Okanogan County Coroner’s Office confirmed Brown died by suicide, Fox News Digital reported. Officers also listed “subsequent immersion in water” and “subject to methamphetamine” as one of the causes of death of the 42-year-old.
Brown’s body was pulled from the Washington River after authorities responded to reports from witnesses near the area.
The Discovery Channel personality appeared on “Alaska Bush People” from 2014 to 2019 before exiting the series due to her ongoing battle with drug addiction.
Page Six reports that deputies with the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office were called after a witness saw a man sitting in a shallow part of the river.
The caller then allegedly heard a noise and saw the man face down in the water before being swept away by the current.

A firearm was reportedly found near the area where the man was last seen, according to reports.
Brown’s brother, Bear Brown, confirmed Brown’s death in a social media video over the weekend. “A few hours ago, they found a body in the river that was identified as Matt,” Bell said in comments quoted by Fox News.
Bell also revealed that another sibling, Noah Brown, helped identify Matt’s body.
In a touching statement released Sunday, the Brown family recalled Matt as an adventurous and compassionate man who struggled with addiction and mental health challenges for many years.
“Matt was smart, curious, creative, and deeply fascinated by the world around him,” the family said in a statement.
The statement also highlighted Brown’s efforts to help others during his recovery. “Throughout his sobriety and recovery, he openly shared his struggles with addiction and mental health,” the family added, noting that he encouraged others to seek help.
Bear Brown admits he feared his brother would one day overdose, but said he never thought he would “hurt himself.”
