During the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial, Foreman, who became one of the nation’s most high-profile law enforcement officials, testified that a bloody glove was found at Simpson’s Brentwood estate.

During the trial, however, the detective’s credibility collapsed after tapes surfaced of him repeatedly using racist slurs and discussing police misconduct. The tapes became the centerpiece of Simpson’s defense strategy.

According to TMZ, Foreman died on May 12 in Idaho. The Kootenai County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death.

Forman’s role in O.J. Simpson trial

Forman’s role in the Simpson investigation made him one of the most talked-about detectives in American history.

On June 13, 1994, Foreman worked with other detectives to investigate Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. A search of Simpson’s Rockingham estate uncovered a bloody glove matching one found near the murder scene.

Prosecutors later cited the glove as one of the strongest pieces of physical evidence against Simpson.

However, Mark used the “n” word in a video played in court by Simpson’s defense team.

Simpson’s defense team launched a blistering attack on Foreman’s credibility after the tapes, made by screenwriter Laura McKinney, exposed Detective Foreman’s repeated use of racial slurs and discussions of police brutality.

During the trial, Foreman denied under oath that he had used racist language over the past decade. Prosecutors’ case was seriously damaged when the tapes were played in court.

Later, when asked about planting evidence in the Simpson case, Foreman invoked his Fifth Amendment rights.

The consequences are historic. In 1995, a year after Foreman retired, he dropped his plea.

In 1996, Forman pleaded no contest to a felony perjury charge for giving false testimony during his trial. He became the only person to be convicted as a result of the Simpson murder investigation.
