Mamdani’s statement was not welcomed by Iranians, who called him “human garbage” and accused him of remaining “silent” while “Islamic Republic terrorists” killed their people.

What did Zohran Mamdani say?

“Bomb cities. Kill civilians. Open up a new war zone. Americans don’t want this. They don’t want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want to get out of the affordability crisis. They want peace,” wrote Mamdani.

“I am focused on keeping every New Yorker safe. I have been in contact with our police chief and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination among agencies and increasing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution,” he added.

In a direct message to Iranian New Yorkers, Mamdani said, “You are part of the fabric of this city – you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers and community leaders. You will be safe here.”

Iranian Sana Ebrahimi shared Mamdani’s post and wrote: “I say this as an Iranian New Yorker: you are human garbage.”

“You remained silent while our people were slaughtered and hunted like animals by Islamic Republic terrorists. You did not say a word. Now, the regime, the murderers of our people, are under attack and you stand up to protect them. You are Islamist human garbage and I will fight your agenda as long as I have my breath,” she added.

Many agreed in the comments section, with one user writing: “It’s not a secret who he is. I don’t understand why the FBI doesn’t investigate him and take action.” “This is all about the Iranian people, their freedoms and interests… Zohran and others should shut up,” one user said, while another wrote, “You ask where Mayor Mamdani’s loyalty lies? His post says it all.”

“He continues to show who he is. I am sending my prayers and support to Iranians around the world,” one user wrote. “You’re not alone. I don’t think this loser will have a long political career,” said another.
